A Refresher for Your Red Blood Cells

Iron’s main function in the human body is transporting oxygen through the blood. It supports healthy metabolic function and overall cellular health and plays a vital role in supporting many enzyme reactions that help balance hormone levels. This essential nutrient is vital in supporting many bodily functions every day, including healthy energy levels.

Iron deficiency is most common in women but can also occur in men. Symptoms of deficiency can include sluggishness or sleepiness, a lack of energy, uncontrollable muscle movement, or physical discomforts.

Zemvelo’s Ionic Iron supplement is formulated with CHD-FA (fulvic acid) to further increase absorption and enhance overall wellbeing as fulvic acid can naturally support the body’s immune system, normal inflammatory response, and detoxification.

  • Natural – Prepared from a pure elemental source of iron bis-gylcinate (ferrous bisglycinate), a form that has been shown as highly absorbable within the body with minimal digestive discomforts in various studies.
  • Maximum Absorption – Angstrom-sized, water-soluble minerals (IsoIonic™) provide the greatest absorption and utilization in the body.
  • Excellent Value – 5ml (1 teaspoon) provides 56% of the daily value – an 8oz bottle provides a 48-day supply.

  • Iron is important in protein metabolism, hemoglobin upkeep, and red blood cell production, which helps prevent anemia.
  • 20% of women are iron-deficient today; the most at-risk are women of child-bearing age or those with vegan/vegetarian diets.
  • Iron deficiency can play a role in feelings of fatigue, loss of mental clarity, mood changes, and more unpleasant mental and physical stressors.
  • Taking iron in a highly bioavailable form is extremely important to ensure healthy levels in the body.
  • Iron helps rid the body of carbon dioxide, preventing unwanted side effects from spiked CO2 levels in the body.

Benefits of Iron

Iron helps the body to manufacture new hemoglobin-packed blood cells and to rid itself of carbon dioxide. Combined with manganese and copper, it helps maintain healthy blood chemistry and helps ease the transfer of oxygen. Elevated carbon dioxide levels in the body can lead to a lower blood pH, electrolyte spikes, blood pressure increase, and restricted blood flow. All of these can have unwanted, uncomfortable side effects if ignored.

Iron can:

Help the body to manufacture new hemoglobin-packed blood cells.

Help with blood circulation and heart health.

Play a role in metabolism, digestion, elimination, and circulation.

Support immune system function.

Support respiratory health.

Support enzymatic function throughout the body.

Support healthy energy levels.

Healthy Metabolism and Blood Oxygen Levels

Iron supports your cells by helping the optimal amount of oxygen to reach them when needed. This helps provide you with ongoing, healthy energy. It also assists with the body’s metabolic enzyme processes involved in absorbing nutrients from food and digesting proteins. A deficiency, on the other hand, can cause symptoms such as sluggishness, exhaustion, poor concentration, poor muscle coordination, and mood changes.

Iron and Uncontrollable Muscle Movement

Iron can also play a role in helping calm an uncontrollable urge to move the legs that often disrupts sleep. This mineral is pivotal in transporting oxygen to the muscles to reduce muscle discomfort and sudden uncontrollable movement.

Signs of Iron Deficiency

According to the World Health Organization, 33% of women around the world aged 15-49 are iron-deficient. Deficiency can lead to a lack of development of healthy red blood cells. Low levels can be caused by poor diet, blood loss, and difficulty with absorbing iron from food.

Deficiency may feel like you are consistently extremely tired; you may feel weak or have shortness of breath often. Sometimes, it shows up as feeling lightheaded or having cold hands or feet.

Several factors may put people at risk for temporary or long-term iron deficiency, including:

Being a woman of childbearing age.

Following a vegan or vegetarian diet.

Excessive exercise.

Being pregnant or breastfeeding.

Having a history of kidney failure or undergoing dialysis.

Having digestive system discomforts.

Consuming too much calcium (such as antacids) can reduce iron absorption.

having experienced recent blood loss through donation or surgery.

Most people learn that they are deficient when trying to donate blood. A simple blood test at your doctor’s office can confirm deficiency or taking a Mineral Hair Analysis Test will provide this information as well.

Who is Iron recommended for?

Iron is great for anyone with iron deficiency. Generally, iron is recommended for vegan, vegetarian, or low-protein diets. It also can be beneficial for women with heavy periods.

Can I take Iron with my other supplements?

Yes, all our supplements can be taken together with or without water or juice. To determine a full supplement program, please take the Mineral Hair Analysis Test.

Due to the supplement not having any additives or added flavor, the taste is slightly off-putting; how can I mask that?

Many of our customers mix the minerals with water or juice to help with consumption. Citrus-based juices such as pineapple, lemon, lime, grapefruit, or orange juice go well with our liquid minerals.

Are Zemvelo products safe for children to consume?

Yes, the products are suitable for children. The rule of thumb Zemvelo uses is a quarter dosage for toddlers to 5 years old and half a dosage for kids aged 6-13.

The child can do the Mineral Hair Analysis Test to find out if there are deficiencies that should be addressed and that can further help you understand the right dosage. As always, you should consider consulting your physician.

Should I take Iron with or without food?

The Mineral Wheel

This is a graphical representation of mineral interactions. The wheel does not include all minerals, but it does give you an idea of the complexity of mineral interactions.

Our aim is to provide the body with minerals in a form that most closely resembles the form found in food, the form which the body best recognizes and can utilize.

The body’s affinity for different minerals, and nutrients in general, changes based on its needs. If you have a deficiency in, say, vitamin C, your body will aggressively absorb that nutrient from your food or supplement source. The same is true of minerals. In addition to your body’s current nutritional status, there are many other factors that influence how well your body absorbs what you feed it. Things like your metabolic rate and type, stress level, fitness level, exercise, and things like sugar and caffeine intake, all affect mineral absorption.

While taking certain minerals separate from food is certainly a strategy, it is not an absolute rule. Many who do not follow this and take the minerals along with food still show significant improvement in their deficiency symptoms. I would say try both methods and see if you can notice a difference for you and your metabolic system.
